GRP Embankment Staircases
Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) embankment staircases provide a robust, durable, and safe access solution for maintenance crews working on slopes and embankments. These staircases are custom-built to meet specific site requirements and are designed to overcome the challenges of steep and uneven terrain. For more information, please take a look at our GRP Embankment Staircases brochure.
Advantages of GRP Embankment Staircases
Rapid Construction: GRP staircases can be quickly assembled, reducing installation times significantly.
Lightweight: The components are easy to transport, even to remote locations, which lowers delivery and labour costs.
Durability: Made from high-quality GRP sections, these staircases are built to last and withstand harsh weather conditions.
Safety: The anti-slip surface and highlighted edges ensure a safe passage for personnel.
Low Maintenance: GRP materials require little to no maintenance, leading to lower life cycle costs.
Customization: Each staircase is tailored to the existing slope, length, height measurements, and client specifications.
Design and Features
Modular Construction: Utilizes high-quality GRP sections that conform to strength, quality, and fire resistance standards.
Anti-Slip Surface: Steps and landings have a refined anti-slip surface for additional safety.
Guardrails: Integral guardrails provide hand, knee, and toe height protection.
Highlighted Edges: Optional white and yellow highlighted edges and down stands to all stair treads for better visibility.
Bespoke Solutions: Dimensions and additional options are available to meet the unique needs of each location.
Applications
GRP embankment staircases are ideal for railway trackside or riverbank locations where safe and efficient access is required. They are also suitable for replacing end-of-life wooden or steel structures.
Installation and Service
Our team offers a full-service package, including on-site surveys, design consultancy, and installation support. We ensure that the staircases are delivered directly from the factory to your site and can be easily assembled by on-site contractors.
Conclusion
Choosing GRP embankment staircases is a smart investment for any organization that requires safe, durable, and low-maintenance access solutions for challenging terrains. For more information, please take a look at our GRP Embankment Staircases brochure.
Frequently Asked Questions About GRP Platforms
What are GRP platforms?
GRP platforms are access and working platforms manufactured from Glass Reinforced Plastic. They are designed to provide safe, durable, and corrosion-resistant access in industrial, infrastructure, and commercial environments.
What are GRP platforms used for?
GRP platforms are commonly used for maintenance access, walkways, plant rooms, substations, rail infrastructure, water treatment facilities, and industrial sites where safety and durability are critical.
Are GRP platforms better than steel platforms?
Yes. GRP platforms are lighter, corrosion-free, non-conductive, and require significantly less maintenance than steel platforms, offering a lower whole-life cost.
Are GRP platforms suitable for outdoor use?
Yes. GRP platforms are UV-stable, weather resistant, and perform reliably in wet, coastal, or chemically aggressive outdoor environments without rusting or degradation.
How strong are GRP platforms?
GRP platforms have a high strength-to-weight ratio and are engineered to support heavy pedestrian loads and equipment while remaining lightweight and easy to install.
Are GRP platforms slip resistant?
Yes. GRP platforms typically feature integrated anti-slip surfaces, providing excellent traction even in wet, oily, or contaminated conditions, improving safety for users.
Are GRP platforms fire resistant?
GRP platforms can be manufactured using fire-retardant resin systems to meet specific fire performance and smoke emission requirements for infrastructure and industrial projects.
Do GRP platforms corrode or require painting?
No. GRP platforms do not rust, rot, or corrode and do not require painting or protective coatings, resulting in minimal ongoing maintenance.
How long do GRP platforms last?
GRP platforms typically have a service life of 25–30+ years, even in harsh environments, making them a long-term and cost-effective access solution.
Can GRP platforms be custom designed for specific projects?
Yes. GRP platforms can be fully customised in terms of size, layout, load capacity, and configuration to suit specific site and access requirements.
